The PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup started with a field of 125 players, each one hoping to claim the title as FedExCup champion on Sept. 27. It won't be easy -- the Playoffs field will be cut each week (125 at The Barclays to 100 at the Deutsche Bank Championship to 70 at the BMW Championship to 30 at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola).

To win the FedExCup, players will have to be perform at their very best, will have to be consistent, will have to beat the best golfers on the PGA TOUR ... in other words, it's survival of the fittest.

Here are the 125 players who began the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup at Liberty National. As we move through the Playoffs, the photos of the fallen will turn from color to black-and-white. This way, you'll get a sense of who's still alive ... and who will have to wait until next year. After THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, only one man was left standing: Tiger Woods. Woods finished second to Phil Mickelson at East Lake, but the runner-up finish was enough to clinch his second FedExCup title in three years, while Mickelson finished second behind Woods in the final standings.
