PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Nine of the PGA TOUR's TPCs have been recognized for their outstanding retail operations by Golf World magazine. Included in the publication's list of the "100 Best Golf Shops for 2009," Private Club category, are TPC Boston in Norton, Mass.; TPC Jasna Polana in Princeton, N.J.; TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.; TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga.; and TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nev.
TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., was also named in the Resort category, while TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., TPC Las Vegas and TPC Scottsdale were honored in the Public/Daily Fee category.
In compiling the "100 Best Golf Shops" list, Golf World's panel of experts took into consideration revenues generated relative to the shop's physical size and rounds played at the property; shop appearance and layout; and key operational initiatives and promotions undertaken by shop management to drive sales.
"We are extremely proud of our merchandising team and congratulate all of the TPC team members at these properties for their outstanding contributions to our retail operations," said Sue Cramer, PGA TOUR senior manager of merchandising. "Our golf shops continue to apply innovative retail strategies to exceed the needs and expectations of PGA TOUR players, tournament fans, members and guests."
Golf World, part of the Golf Digest Companies, has been celebrating golf retail operations and those responsible for them since 1986.
