Can anyone enter 2009 with more confidence than Vijay Singh? After all, he all but ran away with the FedExCup in '08 after wins in the first two Playoff events.
He was runner-up in two of his first nine starts -- losing the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in a playoff and coming up a shot shy of Geoff Ogilvy at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship. But by the time he came to Akron for the Bridgestone Invitational, he was having a love-hate relationship with his putter.
Still, the willful Singh won at Firestone and convinced himself he was the best putter in the world. Wins at The Barclays and Deutsche Bank Championship followed, and by the time he reached THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, all he had to do was finish to win the $10 million.
