Ryuji Imada's first TOUR victory has got to give him confidence -- and security -- entering the 2009 season. Not to mention, his bank account increased by $3 million -- nearly as much as he earned in his first three years on TOUR combined.
Imada's breakthrough victory at the AT&T Classic offered him redemption. He beat Kenny Perry on the first playoff hole after losing to Zach Johnson on the 73rd hole of the same event.
Imada would love to duplicate his blazing start of a year ago, too. Imada set the tone for what would be a career campaign with two runner-up finishes in his first six starts -- finishing eight strokes behind Tiger Woods at the Buick Invitational and closing with a 68 to tie for second at the PODS Championship.
