This transplanted Swede has got to feel confident as he contemplates the 2009 season. After all, he won for the third time in the last four years -- and Pettersson did it in the North Carolina city where he went to high school and at a tournament where he serves on the board of directors.
Pettersson's win at the Wyndham Championship provided a storybook finish for a tournament that moved to Sedgefield Country Club, which had once hosted it during the its heyday. Pettersson set the course record of 61 -- which included two bogeys -- in the second round as well as the 72-hole mark of 21 under.
Included in Pettersson's five top-10s was his highest finish in a major, a tie for sixth at the U.S. Open. He earned more than $2 million for the third straight season and finished 21st in both the FedExCup and on the money list.
