The opening tee shot of 2009 probably can't come soon enough for Luke Donald. Wrist surgery in August cut his 2008 campaign short last year and cost him a chance to play for Europe in the Ryder Cup.
Despite the injury, Donald still managed to earn $1.4 million in 11 PGA TOUR events. He tied for third in his 2008 debut at the Northern Trust Open, then finished second to Ernie Els at The Honda Classic two weeks later.
Donald's third top 10 came at the Memorial Tournament. But in his next start, the 31-year-old had to withdraw from the final round of the U.S. Open, and the decision was made to have surgery. Expect Donald to make up for lost time by chasing both the FedExCup and Race to Dubai bounty.
