K.J. Choi will be looking for more of the same in 2009. He won the Sony Open in Hawaii last year, which was his seventh TOUR title and put him in some elite company -- only Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson join Choi with at least one title in the last four years.
Choi's victory in Hawaii was one of three top-10s in his first six starts to open the season. In fact, by the time he tied for 11th at the Shell Houston Open in his adopted hometown, Choi had earned more than $1.7 mllion.
The generous Korean, who learned to play golf by studying books and videos by Jack Nicklaus, went on to win more than $2.6 million and finish 16th on the money list. He was also 10th in the FedExCup and closed out the season with top-10s in the last two Playoff events.
