MORE TOP 100 PLAYERS: BACK to Player No. 13 | FORWARD to Player No. 11 | Top 100 archive

Two Cups give Mike Weir something to look forward to in 2009. He'll try to make the Presidents Cup team for the fifth straight time, and he'll give the FedExCup another try after making a spirited bid for the $10 million bonus in 2008. Vijay Singh's wins in the first two events of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup made it all but academic, but Weir entered the third one with a mathematical chance of denying the Big Fijian after finishing solo second at the Deutsche Back Championship. He ended up sixth. Weir, who won more than $3 million in 2008, also finished as runner-up at the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley. He closed the season strong with three straight top 10s, including a tie for sixth at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. -- Helen Ross

It's never a surprise when Mike creeps up on a leaderboard. The only surprise has been the infrequency it has happened the last couple of years.
