The most pressing question is when will he return? And then we're left to wonder -- will that surgically repaired left knee allow Tiger Woods to be the same dominating player he has been for the last 12 years?
Judging by Woods willful, virtually one-legged victory at the U.S. Open -- in 91 holes, no less -- the second question can be easily answered. The game's No. 1 player has too much determination and desire to be anything but the best.
Woods fought through arthroscopic surgery and two stress fractures to capture that playoff win over Rocco Mediate at Torrey Pines. The victory was his fourth in six starts, and he also finished second at the Masters. Think he won't be ready for 2009? Dont doubt it.
